- What’s up with the weather in
Virginia lately? Relaxing in the warm sun on Monday, putting on our rain boots,
warm clothes, coats, and opening umbrellas on Tuesday, by Wednesday one would
think it’s Christmas morning, and by Thursday, everyone is sick. And what’s
even more bizarre is the fact we (myself, and the other residential students
here at Richard Bland College) have to walk to class regardless. Imagine
walking in 18 degree weather for over 10 minutes to go to a pointless class
that only last 50 minutes. The only thing that would come out of that
experience is a red nose and a slight cold afterwards. Commuters have the
advantage to come and go as they please, and crank the heat up as we freeze. I
strongly believe that either we, the residential students get to drive to class or even use some of that good old tuition to invest in
“E- Z Up’s” which are basically shelters to protect from the rain or snow
during an event, but in this case while we’re walking to class. Matter of fact I have a better idea,
run shuttle buses on campus to pick us up and drop us off every 15 like downtown
bus lines. Until then, I guess it’s just take the risk of getting sick, or just
not show up to class today. Which would you choose?
I completely agree with what you are saying, it would be an amazing idea to get the shuttle vans that take us to walmart/mall to take us to class. It would be absolutely perfect since we won't get to freeze to death and end up sick towards the end of the day.
ReplyDeleteI totally agree!!! It is either we walk in the rain and freezing weather or get sick and cannot come to class. I do not understand. The shuttle bus is a great idea even if it is just for inclement weather. Lets start a petition. ;)
