- Happy Valentine's Day. Ahh who am
I kidding? Valentine's Day sucks. There's no doubt about it. Everyone is
running around advertising, and announcing their love and guaranteeing their
eternal emotion and devotion for one another. It makes me sick to my stomach. I
honestly believe if someone genuinely cared and was concerned about you. You
would see and hear it more often than once a year. I mean think about it, every
year, you're presented with a cheap box of chocolates, CVS flowers, and a .99
cent Valentine card picked by the blind. Is it just a cover up for all the
wrong doings in the relationship? Don't get me wrong. I am not a single woman
grilling everyone else who is dating. I'm just being me: real. I someone to
love me based upon their personal choice and feelings, not because some heart
shaped holiday card sponsored by Hallmark forced them. Anyways, hope everyone
enjoyed their day. <3

What's the Big Deal?
- "Oh, say can you see by the
dawn's early light ... Whose broad stripes and bright stars through
the perilous fight ... And the star- spangled banner in triumph shall wave. O'er the land of the free and the home
of the brave!" We've all heard these words before. It is traditionally played at the beginning of public sports
events and orchestral concerts in the United States, as well as other public
gatherings. This year it was sung during Barack
Obama's Presidential Inauguration. The National Anthem is often
criticized for the way it's sung, whether done bad, or lip synced.
Unfortunately Beyoncé was a victim of
lip syncing. Word spread like wild fire through radio play, and he say,
she say, which eventually led to a press conference about whether she did it or
not. She was more than happy to admit to it and was satisfied with her
performance. I personally didn't understand the dramatics over if she did
it and why. We've all witnessed Beyoncé sing hundreds of time without
lip syncing and she sounds astounding each and every time, so what's
the big deal? She's proven her credibility more than once. People
seem to never be satisfied. So may I ask again, what's the big deal?

Freezinggg in the Rain..
- What’s up with the weather in
Virginia lately? Relaxing in the warm sun on Monday, putting on our rain boots,
warm clothes, coats, and opening umbrellas on Tuesday, by Wednesday one would
think it’s Christmas morning, and by Thursday, everyone is sick. And what’s
even more bizarre is the fact we (myself, and the other residential students
here at Richard Bland College) have to walk to class regardless. Imagine
walking in 18 degree weather for over 10 minutes to go to a pointless class
that only last 50 minutes. The only thing that would come out of that
experience is a red nose and a slight cold afterwards. Commuters have the
advantage to come and go as they please, and crank the heat up as we freeze. I
strongly believe that either we, the residential students get to drive to class or even use some of that good old tuition to invest in
“E- Z Up’s” which are basically shelters to protect from the rain or snow
during an event, but in this case while we’re walking to class. Matter of fact I have a better idea,
run shuttle buses on campus to pick us up and drop us off every 15 like downtown
bus lines. Until then, I guess it’s just take the risk of getting sick, or just
not show up to class today. Which would you choose?
